US$3.3 million seized in La Romana’s Casa de Campo

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of the United States announced the seizure of US$3,332,645 from a drug trafficking network that operated in the Casa de Campo complex in La Romana. At least seven people were arrested in the operation, according to El Nuevo Diario, including a former military officer and current member of the National Investigation Department (DNI), who was responsible for coordinating the illegal activities.

According to El Nuevo Diario, the money was brought to the Dominican Republic by a yacht from Puerto Rico and transferred to a Dominican catamaran in the waters off La Romana before the boat docked in the Marina at Casa de Campo. There, the two coolers and a duffle bag were put into an SUV belonging to one of the people arrested. The vehicle and the money were seized on the driveway of Villa Terraza #4 in Casa de Campo. The entire process was monitored by both agencies, and those arrested will be interrogated by the DNCD before being handed over to the authorities in La Romana for processing.
