The Autonomous Union of Drivers of Petroleum and related products (SACTPA) and the fuel distribution companies failed to reach an agreement yesterday, Wednesday 17 April.
The drivers had ended their four-day strike and given the distribution companies 24 hours to agree to their terms that include reinstatement of dismissed employees and the lifting of legal action against the strike.
After the meeting, mediated by the Ministries of Industry and Commerce and Labor, the drivers announced that if there was no agreement they would return to the fight.
The 700 drivers have asked for a series of measures including salary increases, and their spokesman Clemente Morillo said that when they entered the meeting they were surprised to discover that a writ had been issued against them because of the strike.
