Dance producer Monika Despradel is putting on a show called “Momentos” bringing together 50 dancers and musicians from leading dance companies. Outstanding actress Carlota Carretero also has a role in the show that seeks to highlight legendary historical figures, including founding father Juan Pablo Duarte, national poet Pedro Mir, the restoring of independence from Spain in 1965, and the civic struggles of Manolo Tavarez.
Franklin Franco, Fidelio Despradel, Juan Daniel Balcacer and Chiqui Vicioso are also contributing to the production.
The show, which is free, is scheduled for 29 and 30 April at 7:30pm. It is part of a series of events planned for the National Book Fair at Plaza de la Cultura that opens Monday, 22 April in Santo Domingo. Take time to tour the book fair and then make your way to the National Theater in time to be one of 2,000 people attending the performance. A separate performance for students will be staged on 30 April at 10am.
