Police in Santiago say that they have identified and arrested two men who kidnapped and murdered Eliseo Antonio Alvarez Rosario, (El Secre), aged 71, who was declared missing by his family on April 5.

His body was found 16 days later under a bridge in Cruce de Villa Sinda, in Guayubin, in the northwest.

Gurabo resident Jhonatan Hernandez (Pinguino), 22, was arrested in Monte Cristi province and Luis Ernesto Hernandez Francisco (Nono) was arrested in Santiago.

According to the police, after admitting to the crime, the two men told investigators that they had been hired to kill Alvarez Rosario by his daughter, Patria Mercedes Alvarez Gomez, 30, who agreed to pay them RD$250,000, although she had only paid them the advance of RD$100,000.

Patria Mercedes was subsequently arrested after attempting suicide, and was taken to Jose Maria Cabral and Baez hospital where she is in custody.
