The Ministry of Hacienda and the Budget Department say that the government has reduced the fiscal deficit in the first quarter of the year, with a reduction in spending. The government says that the goal for the deficit for January-March was RD$16.4 billion, equal to 0.7% of GDP, and the period ended with the deficit at RD$2.56 billion, equal to 0.1% of GDP. Business and economic analysts have requested monthly statements from the government. The Medina administration has announced it would publish quarterly reports on budget administration on its website.
