Juan Bosch City to use pension funds

A joint public-private initiative to build a residential neighborhood with 25,000 dwellings has been announced by the Presidential Commission for the Development of the Trust and Mortgage Market. The master plan and infrastructure plans for the model development, which will be called Ciudad Juan Bosch were published yesterday, Thursday 9 May with an invitation to a tender. The housing project seeks to become an urban development model that will contribute to the solution of the country’s housing deficit. The satellite city, to be located in eastern Greater Santo Domingo will make low-cost housing available in a 3.1 million square meter area provided by the government. The private sector will build the 25,000 dwellings with financing related to the pension plan savings. The model city promises good infrastructure, schools, sport, recreational and shopping areas, as well as access to public transport.
