The papers are reporting that President Hip?lito Mej?a has reiterated that although he did not intervene personally in last week’s PRSC primary election, there were a number of PPH activists involved. The PPH (Plan Presidencial Hip?lito) is the faction within the PRD that worked to bring Mejia to the presidency in 2000 and now is campaigning to promote Mej?a’s re-election. The President was speaking at the inauguration of the 18 hole Dye Fore golf course in La Romana, the fourth to open in Casa de Campo.
The President met earlier with leading PRSC officials and expressed his support party unity. He added that he was also looking forward to congratulating controversial primary winner Eduardo Estrella in the next few days.
