Police spokesman General Maximo Baez Aybar reports that members of the force killed four alleged criminals in three separate incidents over the weekend of 1-2 June. In Santo Domingo East, the Police attempted to arrest a young man who was getting into an SUV that he had stolen from a Chinese businessman on the Charles De Gaulle Avenue, in Sabana Perdida. When the Police found the vehicle in the Invivienda neighborhood in Santo Domingo East, there was an exchange of gunfire and the thief was mortally wounded. In La Vega, two men died after stealing a motorcycle from a citizen on Sanchez Street in downtown La Vega. Only one of the thieves was identified. In Santiago, a young alleged criminal who had escaped from the Isleta Rehabilitation Center in Moca was shot and killed in La Yaguita in El Ejido. He was carrying a .38 cal revolver.
