The weather over the Dominican Republic will continue to be rainy, according to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet). The presence of a low-pressure trough and its interaction with a tropical wave over the Mona Passage and moving westwards will lead to rains over most of the country today, Wednesday 5 and tomorrow Thursday 6 June. For this reason, Onamet and the Emergency Operations Center (COE) are maintaining their alerts for flooding and landslides for the provinces of La Vega, Monsignor Nouel (Bonao), Sanchez Ramirez (Cotui), Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris) – especially the Lower Yuna Basin – and Monte Plata, Hato Mayor and Greater Santo Domingo. Onamet also mentions an area of disturbance located between western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula that is showing a 40% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. However, it does not present any danger to the Dominican Republic.
