Garlic for all

The Horticultural Association of the Valley of Constanza and the Garlic Producers Association of San Jos? de Ocoa told reporters from El Caribe that there will be no need to import garlic this year. The organization says that the harvests of 120,000 quintals (hundredweights) of the savory bulb are expected over the next few weeks and again in six months. While garlic is currently selling in certain areas for as much as RD$65 a pound, it is expected that as the crop hits the market the price will fall to levels of around RD$20 a pound.
