If you can’t beat them, join them

La Multitud youth activist Hecmilio Galvan has joined the ranks of the Medina administration. He made headlines last year as a leading protestor against former President Leonel Fernandez, accusing him of widespread corruption.

Now the young activist feels he can do more for the country from inside, than out.

Eric Rivero, spokesman for Aproleche, the leading dairy farmers association, says that the appointment of Galvan as coordinator for Special Projects of the Presidency is good news for the productive sector. He recalls that Galvan, a summa cum laude economics graduate from INTEC, worked in the Milk Sector Promotion Council (Conaleche) from 2008 until 2011, when he was fired for backing farming sectors during the past administration. He explained in a statement that he was fired because he opposed the importers’ ‘mafia’ and the tampering with statistics under his responsibility.
