The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) is getting ready to deport some six thousand Dominicans currently serving sentences in US prisons. In the meantime, during the first half of the year the US authorities have deported some 753 Dominicans to this country on several flights. Another group of 106 can be added to that total. Yesterday, Sunday 23 June they arrived on one of the daily flights that have returned the 859 locals expelled from US territory in the last six months.
The statistics were given to Diario Libre in the Las Americas International Airport (AILA) terminal, and according to the list, most of these deportees were convicted of drug trafficking and other very serious crimes. The deportees are listed in the Migration, the Drug Control Agency and the National Police Deportees Department databases.
