Diario Libre publishes an extensive article today on the makeup of the Political Committee of the ruling PLD party, highlighting the accumulated wealth of most of these, according to their published financial statements. The newspaper says that some 17 years ago, many of them “were not all that well known”, but today they are the notables, powerful, millionaires and specialists in the administration of the state. Grouped into the Political Committee of the government’s ruling party, the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), they are the ones that are in charge of defining the strategies to defend the management of the government and lines to follow by the party members. The selective group is made up of 27 membersoone of them with the right to voice but no voteowho are under the leadership of the former President Leonel Fernandez, who is the president of the party and Reinaldo Pared Perez, the secretary general.

The Political Committee is the executive body of the Central Committee in which the ad-hoc members are the PLD members that are the President of the Republic, the Vice President and the heads of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
