Work progress on Eastern Road System

Tourists and locals will soon enjoy a safe and enjoyable trip from the Punta Cana International Airport to most points in the East, Minister of Public Works Gonzalo Castillo and Eastern Road System (Corredor Vial del Este) project director Sergio Tottamati from Odebrecht Construction said yesterday. This November, the stretches from San Pedro to the Coral Highway, bypassing La Romana city, is expected to be completed, as part of the highway system by 20 November 2013. The Macao Beach-Punta Cana stretch of the Touristic Boulevard will also be finished by then.

The project contains three traffic distribution points that will move traffic from San Pedro de Macoris to La Romana and connect La Romana, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macoris and Santo Domingo.

For next November 2014, the highway will extend to connect Punta Cana to Miches to the north. Several bridges will be built to allow for a much better drive along the eastern coast, extending the Touristic Boulevard of the East.
