After waiting for around 20 years, the province of Monte Plata will at last have a quality hospital, Angel Contreras Mejia. The hospital was inaugurated by Minister of Public Health Freddy Hidalgo Nunez yesterday, Monday, 15 July.
The hospital will benefit more than 190,000 inhabitants of five municipalities – Yamasa, Sabana Grande Boya, Peralvillo and Bayaguana, and the main town of Monte Plata where it is based. It will offer services of dentistry, gastroenterology, pediatrics, cytology, general medicine and pathology.
The main building has two floors, 15 consulting room, a sterilization room, two laboratories, operating theatres and an emergency room.
It also has space for 120 patients to be admitted, compared to only room for 30 beforehand.
Hidalgo described the new hospital as a ‘Mercedez Benz’ and said that he would create an administration for the hospital to ensure that those who use the hospital had the best possible service and best use of the new equipment.
He said that the hospital would be ready for the general public in one or two months and each of the new services would be introduced gradually.
