Dominican Airports 21st Century (Aerodom) has announced the construction of a new modern control tower at the Gregorio Luperon international airport, in Puerto Plata.
The announcement was made by the president of the Administrative Board of Aerodom, Juan Carlos Torres Carretero, who said that this was part of their promise to modernize and optimize the airports they manage.
However, Torres Carretero did not reveal the amount the work would cost, or disclose when it would start, although he did say it would be in the next few weeks.
He said that they would also make improvements to the runway.
Alejandro Herrera, Director of the Dominican Civil Aviation Institute, (IDAC) said it would be a very important piece of work, which would increase security and safety for flights at the airport.
