Bars closed in the Colonial City for admitting minors

The Attorney General’s office have carried out an operation via the National Coordination Office of Children, Young People and Families that has resulted in the closure of five establishments that sell alcoholic beverages, after minors were found inside them.

Those closed are Jacuba Bar, Coby Bar, Discoteca Venetto and Galaxy, in the Colonial City. The authorities also closed Compa Drink, on western side of the Malecon, where 16 minors of both sexes were on the premises.

The administrators of the establishments mentioned above were sent to the local Public Prosecutor where they will be tried for violation of the law about the Protection of the Rights of Children and Young People. The mother of one of the minors who was with her 16 year old child in one of the bars will also be prosecuted.

The minors were sent to the juvenile court, where their parents were called and were warned about the importance of controlling their children’s activities, and were also told that, as parents, they could also be prosecuted.
