EU ambassador calls for Haiti-DR dialogue

The European Union ambassador in the DR, Irene Horejs, has said that Haiti and the Dominican Republic should sit down and discuss their commercial differences so that they get to the root of why Haiti is banning some Dominican products.

Horejs said that both countries have to live in harmony on one island, while acknowledging that there will always be high and low points and differences, but that the Dominican government was ready to enter into discussions with Haiti.

She said that the European Union was always ready to support constructive dialogue between both countries but that she did not know the reasons or motivations behind the Haitian ban on Dominican products.
