Army chief in crime clampdown

The head of the Army, Major General Ruben Dario Paulino Sem says that during his 11 months in office, two colonels and another 248 members of the institution were dismissed for a range of crimes and activities. He warned that he would continue to dismiss everyone who transgresses in the course of duty.

He said that the two colonels were dismissed recently by the Executive Branch, one, Pena Petelier, as he was linked to garlic smuggling from Haiti, and the other, named as Mejia who was allegedly associated with illegal journeys to Puerto Rico from the east of the country.
