The Sentencing Judge in San Cristobal, Willys de Jesus Nunez, will hear a request for conditional release by the former president of the collapsed Intercontinental Bank (Baninter), Ramon Baez Figueroa tomorrow, Friday August 2.
Via his lawyer, Santiago Rodriguez, Baez Figueroa says that he has completed more than half of his sentence and has shown good conduct during his time in jail and has met the requirements for the half-term release.
He added that those involved have been compensated such as the Central Bank, the Banking Superintendence, and the Liquidation Commission for the assets of Baninter.
In order for the Judge to grant conditional release to a convict, he has to have completed half of the sentence imposed, and has to have demonstrated a good work ethic and impeccable behavior in jail.
At the same time, he needs to be able to have the physical and psychological capacity to reintegrate into society and his state of rehabilitation has to be such that it is probable he will conduct himself well if released.
Finally, he should have paid for the damages caused and compensated those affected by his crime or come to an agreement with the injured party.
