Starring Dominican tenor Edgar Perez and Cuban-American singer Elizabeth Caballero, The Merry Widow will open at the National Theater in Santo Domingo on 23 August followed by a second performance the next day. The operetta by Austro-Hungarian composer Franz Lehar is based on the story of a rich widow and her countrymen’s attempt to keep her money in the principality by finding her the right husband. The script by Leo Stein and Victor Leon is an adaptation of the 1861 comedy play, The Embassy Attache by Henri Meilhac. It is a production by Edgar Perez and Sociedad ProArte Latinoamericana.
