Yet another tragic accident on the highway from Puerto Plata to Navarrete took the life of one person and left seven more injured. The accident occurred near Altamira on Saturday night, 24 August when a small truck laden with members of an evangelical church lost its brakes on a steep section of road. According to the World Health Organization, the Dominican Republic occupies the second position on the list of countries with the most traffic deaths in the world, in relation to its population. The DR has a rate of 41.7 deaths per 100,000.
