Ministry of Tourism wants to update National Tourism Plan

The Coordinating Unit of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is inviting bids for updating the Dominican Republic National Strategy and Tourism Plan. The unit says funds from the US$30 million loan for the revitalization of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo can be used for the drafting of the update. The idea is to help the country to reposition itself as a regional leader and open new complementary niche markets aside from the traditional sun and sand image. The new niche markets would be based on cultural heritage and social inclusion.
