Deputies approve changes to Penal Process Code

Modifications that favor the plaintiff’s ability to have counsel, and a victim’s rights to free counsel are just some of the changes to the Penal Process Code once again passed by the Chamber of Deputies. Judges were empowered to decide by themselves certain cases where the penalties were up to four years in jail, and coercive measures were approved for automatic application in some cases.

This is not the first time that the deputies have attempted to introduce changes to the Penal Process Code. The Senate now needs to approve the changes.
