Cardiologists from the Salvador B. Gautier public hospital say that in the Dominican Republic there are on average 15 heart attacks per day, or around 5,500 a year. Doctors Fulgencio Severino, Carlos Lamarche, Maria Reyes and Jose Reyes said that around 12,000-15,000 people are affected by heart attacks every year. Dr. Severino says that the worst part of the news is that 30% of these deaths involve people under the age of 50.
The physicians announced that an international cardiologists symposium would take place on 6, 7, 8 September at the Melia in Punta Cana.
