The Davis Cup in Santo Domingo

The Dominican Republic’s best tennis players will play Chile in the Americas Zone Group Relegation play-off, the BNP Paribas Davis Cup. Chile is ranked 28th, the DR 44th by the Davis Cup organization.

This will be only the second meeting between the two nations but Dominican Republic is hoping to improve on the last time the two teams played when the Dominicans lost 5-0.

So far, Chile has lost to Ecuador 3-2 in the Zone Group I second round.

Dominican Republic also lost 3-1 to Uruguay in the first round, which automatically put them into this relegation tie.

The matches will take place 13-15 September at the Tennis Complex of the Park of the East. The Dominican Tennis Federation (Fedotenis) is the event organizer.

Playing for the Dominican Republic is Victor Estrella (Association of Tennis Professionals ranking 288). Other players are Jose Ramon (Bebo) Hernandez, who is now ranked 300 with ATP. Others are Peter Beltran and Roberto Cid.
