President Danilo Medina has extended the governmental austerity measures up to 31 December this year. They apply to all of the central administration, autonomous and decentralized government organizations.
Decree 262-13 establishes the level of government expenditure adjusted for the various institutional budgets.
This is the same as laid down in Decree 499-12 that was issued by President Medina on 22 August 2012, a few days after he took office. The decree bans public entities from spending money without having the appropriate budgets previously approved by the Treasury.
