More industrial free zones

The representatives of seven industrial duty free zones, who met with President Danilo Medina yesterday, Monday 16 September, have promised to invest US$25 million over the rest of this year and to expand their businesses and create 3,500 new jobs in 2014.

Twelve new Free Zones and 16 companies will be added.

Minister of Industry and Commerce, Jose del Castillo, and the director of the Free Zones Association (Adozona), Aquiles Bermudez made the announcement at a press conference after the meeting.

Bermudez said that the new factories and jobs would be based in Santo Domingo, Santiago and Puerto Plata.
