Transport strike affects travel to the west and Santo Domingo

Thousands of bus passengers have been affected by the transport strike called by transporters who want the government to intervene in the discussions between the companies that want the control of passengers n Conatra, Fenatrano and Unatrafin.

The situation also affected Greater Santo Domingo when Fenatrano buses that serve the city also stopped their bus services.

The government has many transportation regulatory organizations but they are better known for their laissez faire approach toward the private transporters who control the roadways and prevent newcomers from entering their monopolized routes.

As reported in Diario Libre, motoconchos (motorcycles taxis) enjoyed a roaring trade when the buses stopped running leaving users stranded.
