Mango TV, the station conceived seven and a half years ago as a Dominican version of MTV, announced last night that its new programming will be dedicated to praising Jesus Christ. This change comes after its owner, outstanding Dominican contemporary music composer and performer Juan Luis Guerra, himself converted to Christianity several years ago. For the three-hour farewell televised special, station producer Miguel Cunillera gathered the many young figures that made the station a part of the lives of new generations. Several of these talents have gone on to successful international careers. During the special, many shared anecdotes of their work days at the station.
In its report on the closing, El Caribe newspaper says that Guerra legally ceded the rights to the names of the shows to each of the individual program producers. Guerra watched the special from his home.
