Get to know Monte Plata

About an hour’s drive from Santo Domingo, the hilly province of Monte Plata is seeking to attract more domestic and international travelers to show them what it has to offer. Senator Charlie Mariotti is the coordinator of the annual Expo Monte Plata that will take place this weekend, 4, 5 and 6 October at the Ciudad Ganadera in Santo Domingo. Mariotti stresses the ecotouristic treasures of the area. He is pushing for the province to be named the Ecotouristic Province in the Senate.

Mariotti is promising free shows with urban performers Mozart La Para, Vakero and Poeta Callejero. Salsa will be at the show with Alex Matos, Sexappeal and Javier, and the merengue will be played by Amalfis, Miriam Cruz, Sergio Vargas and Orquesta Plateada, plus appearances by traditional paleros, salve and gaga.
