Catholic Church to help with literacy program

President Danilo Medina and First Lady Candida Montilla have attended the signing of an agreement-commitment by the Conference of Bishops of the Roman Catholic Church in the Dominican Republic to support the government’s literacy plan, Quisqueya Learns with You. The church commits to helping with the process of locating and listing people over 15 who need to learn to read and write.

The bishops will also promote the design of individual literacy programs with church volunteers in each area.
