Architect Maribel Villalona, director of the Ministry of Tourism unit for coordinating the Colonial City renovation project, said yesterday, Monday 7 October that the works being carried out in the Colonial City would not endanger the area’s historical heritage. She said the builders were being very rigorous and were supervised by government institutions in charge of cultural heritage as well as archeologists, architects and experienced specialists in the field.
She highlighted the reports presented by archaeologists Martha Roquel Aquino and Agamemnon Pantel, saying that the process of documentation as well as the archeological monitoring procedures being applied so far are meeting the main objectives of identification, documentation and protection of archaeological findings.
