The now infamous deputy of the Congress of the Dominican Republic, Radham?s ?Chino? Ramos Garc?a is making headlines again. It seems that even though he told the press he would waive his parliamentary immunity and face the judge in his corruption case, this has yet to happen and his loyal PRD colleagues and 11 members of the opposition have sided with him. In yesterday?s congressional session, a motion was presented to move the immunity question to the top of the agenda, but the PRD deputies announced they would abstain from any vote on this question. V?ctor Bison?, as PRSC spokesman, maintained his position that Ramos Garcia?s immunity privilege should be withdrawn. Rafaela Alburquerque, the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies and PRSC deputy for San Pedro de Macor?s, had said that Ramos Garc?a should send a letter to the Chamber of Deputies requesting that his special status be removed. However, the PRD group broke the quorum and ended the session without a vote.
