Green alert for five provinces

On Wednesday, 16 October, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported that a green alert was being issued for five provinces due to the low-pressure trough that is affecting the country. According to El Caribe and other papers, the alert is in place for La Altagracia (Higuey), La Romana, San Pedro de Macoris, Greater Santo Domingo, including the National District, and Santiago. The green alert calls for citizens to be on the lookout for sudden flooding and landslides as well as to heed the instructions of the authorities. The COE said that the humidity and general instability of the air mass that covers the country would bring more rains in the afternoon and evening for the northwest, northeast, southeast, southwest, the border areas and the central mountains.
