Gabriel Escarrer, ranked 78th is down with a fortune of US$1.27 billion, and owns the Melia operations in Punta Cana. Simon Pedro Barcelo of Grupo Barcelo, with operations in Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and Santo Domingo is said to have a fortune of US$1.15 billion.
The president of Globalia, Juan Jose Hidalgo, owner of Air Europa and BeLive hotel chain is down in the Forbes ranking with US$954.98 billion.
The brothers Carmen and Luis Riu are ranked with US$954 million. Another on the list of millionaires is Abel Matutes, president of Palladium hotel chain with operations in Punta Cana with US$477 million. The list is available in the print version of the magazine.
