With a second reading vote of 121 in favor and 24 against, the Chamber of Deputies yesterday, Tuesday 12 November passed the National Budget as received from the Senate. The bill now moves to the Presidency for signing into law. The budget is for RD$613.136 billion. The negative votes were mainly from the PRD deputies, a minority party in Congress.
Wage increases for public health, agrarian and police workers were included in the budget. A bid for more funds for the Metro was rejected.
