Problems with coal-fired plants bidding process

One of the companies participating in the process to choose the one that will build two coal-fired generators, South Korean bidder POSCO Engineering has asked the General Office of Public Contractors to suspend the process due to a possible conflict of interest in the relationship between bidding Odebrecht and bids evaluator Stanley Consultants.

POSCO Engineering says there is information that suggests an existing relationship between Odebrecht and Stanley Consultants. The Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) contracted the latter was to evaluate the bids. Odebrecht (Brazilian) and Tecnimont (Italian) are submitting a joint bid. The company had said that Tecnimont should not have been pre-qualified because they have been involved in legal processes that impede this.
