Spanish ambassador offers support for regularization plan

Spain’s Ambassador in the Dominican Republic Jaime Lacadena says that his government respects and understands the decision the country has taken with Constitutional Court Ruling 168-13 that calls for the implementation of the National Immigration Regularization Plan and confirms the requirements for obtaining Dominican nationality. He said that Spain offered its support and cooperation for all that the country needs to implement the ruling that calls for the regularization of migrants who entered the country illegally, and their descendants.

The Ambassador was at the Presidential Palace yesterday, Thursday 14 November to announce that a team of oceanographers from Spain in the research vessel Sarmiento de Gamboa will be working with Dominican counterparts to locate structures that increase the country’s seismic risk after the gas emissions from the San Pedro de Macoris maritime platform. The research will cost EUR1.5 million and is backed by the government of Spain and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. It is the second phase of a program that began in 2009. The research will also cover the seismic levels of the north coast of the country.
