The Police arrested Jose Luis Gomez Cuevas, a resident of Calle Donante in Barahona, with RD$536,000 in cash in his pockets on Saturday night, 16 November. He was dancing when he was arrested during a routine search of the beer hall-discotheque, Centro Cervecero El Video. He said that a relative had sent him the money for building a house.
The operation was carried out by the Police Southern Regional Command in Barahona, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), the National Investigations Department and the Ministry of Defense, with representatives of the Attorney General office. Some 16 people were arrested and are being investigated.
