The government announced that starting on Sunday 1 December the economy would see a gradual injection of around RD$50 billion, or around 2% of GDP, in 13th Christmastime wage and other payments. The extra cash is expected to stimulate the economy. The RD$50 billion total includes RD$19 billion for the Christmas wage to government employees, RD$10 billion in public infrastructure works, and RD$10 billion for school construction.
