Medina “best President ever”

According to a 2013 report by the Latinobarometro survey, 74% of Dominicans approve of the government of President Danilo Medina, and he is also the head of state with the highest rating in Latin America. He is followed by Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa with a 73% approval rating, Mauricio Funes from El Salvador with 66%, Jose Alberto Mujica from Uruguay with 61% and Nicaragua’s Daniel Ortega with 60%. The average approval rating for Latin American governments is 49%.

Never has a President of the Dominican Republic had such a high rating since the country was included in the Latinobarometro report in 2004. At that time the President was Hipolito Mejia and he had an approval rating of 21%. Leonel Fernandez received 62% in 2005 and 61% in 2006. From there Fernandez went downhill apart from a slight improvement in 2008 when he had a 50% rating. The other years were 46% in 2007, 47% in 2009, 45% in 2010 and 36% in 2011.
