The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has announced the selection of the company that will supply the long overdue renewed IDs for Dominicans. The JCE is in charge of civil registry in the Dominican Republic.
Copy Solutions International will supply the cards for the IDs, the printers (Topan, model CP500), the cameras (Canon EOS 110D) and the fingerprint readers (Dermalog LF 10 Live Scanner) during a ten-year period. Pyhex Ventures will supply the signature readers (Topaz Systems, Siglite Model T-2460) for the same ten years. The other companies that submitted bids in the tender were Triarii, Sinergit, GTS Dominicana, Caelum Dominicana, Consorcio Thomas ID 2013, Gestion Tecnologica SIC-MAD, Multi Vendor Solutions Dominicana, Consorcio Falconeye Technology and Screencheck Latin America. The board of independent observers headed by El Dia executive editor Rafael Molina Morillo monitored the process.
The JCE has yet to announced the date for the start of the process for renewing the IDs.
