The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL) has acknowledged that the quality of telecommunications services in the Dominican Republic has declined by 37%, as established in a study ordered by Indotel, as reported in Hoy. Gedeon Santos, president of Indotel, was speaking in the presence of the leading telecom company directors yesterday, Thursday 5 December. He observed that the rapid growth in the sector has resulted in a substantial reduction in the quality of services currently on offer. The Dominican telecom market is mainly served by America Movil’s Claro, now the Tricom-Orange (merger in process) and Viva (mobile services).
