A mob has robbed a body from the ER at the Jaime Mota Hospital in Barahona, where the local prosecutor recently said that this has happened before in circumstances that make it difficult to investigate crimes.
The body of Saulo Enis Timas, aged 29, who had been shot in the abdomen from a moving car whilst sitting outside his house, was taken to the ER, but the doctors ordered that he should be taken to the morgue as he was dead. When they were ready to take him to the Regional Forensic Science laboratory in Azua to carry out the autopsy, a violent mob came in and took the body away.
According to the Police they have identified the suspects as Saulo Martinez, David Cuevas (Davilin) and a third man identified only as “Pablito” and asked them to turn themselves in.
The local Prosecutor, Yvan Ariel Gomez Rubio says that the removal of bodies from the morgue prior to autopsy is a major problem at the hospital, and he is currently investigating the robbery of the body of Yoel Manuel Mella Ruiz, aged 22, who was taken to his house by family members before an autopsy could be carried out to determine cause of death.
