Add speed racing to sport tourism for the Dominican Republic. There will be competitions in standard 4×2 vehicles, 4×4 vehicles, open SUVs, 4×4 Off-road cars and dune buggies. The Dominican Republic’s Rally of the Caribbean will take place on Sunday, 15 December. The event is being promoted as the country’s first nationwide speed rally. It will span 80 kilometers, with the start and finish at the Shell Megaport station on Las Americas Highway at the Puerto Caucedo access road.
Organizers Luis Sanchez and Demetrio Almonte describe the race as a way of launching the Dominican Republic into the list of countries with closed-circuit rallies.
It is organized by the Pilotos del Caribe speedracing school, which is affiliated with the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global motoring organization. Shell V-Power is the sponsor of the country’s first motorsport rally.
