President Medina inaugurates roads in Montecristi

President Danilo Medina was in Montecristi on Friday, 20 December for the formal inauguration of the improvements to the 79 km Cruce de Esperanza-Montecristi road in the northwest. The government also inaugurated the improvements to the 19.2 km Botoncillo-Buen Hombre road, and the 10 km Copey-Manzanillo road. The streets in several housing projects in the province were also paved as part of these works. The improved roads have made travel in Montecristi province easier while opening up access to lovely off-the-beaten track tourist attractions in these areas. Minister of Public Works Gonzalo Castillo said that the improvements would have a positive impact on trade and the quality of life for local people. Office of Supervisory Works of the Presidency director Engineer Miguel Pimentel Kareh, Institute of Hydraulic Resources director Olga Fernandez and Border Development director Miguel Alejandro Bejaran also attended the inaugurations along with senator for Montecristi Heinz Vieluf Cabrera, and governors of Valverde Domingo Colon, Dajabon, Fiordaliza Hernandez and Miguel Angel Nunez of Santiago Rodriguez.
