Clean face for Santo Domingo

The municipal government for the National District of Santo Domingo began its program to clean up the city. ?Zero Week? calls for an end to banners, posters and other propaganda attached to public utility polls or on the walls of public buildings. According to Mayor Roberto Salcedo, a group of 3,000 will take part in the cleanup, which started in the Colonial Zone and will extend outwards to the whole city. There will be 2,400 new trash bins located all over the district at a cost of RD$20 million. Small shacks doing business on the sidewalks and roadways will also be removed by the cleanup brigade.
