Minister of Tourism Ramon Alfredo Bordas said during a forum on the Puerto Plata market yesterday that US Airways will start a flight to Puerto Plata from Philadelphia in November. He also said Continental has agreed to increase the amount of seats on its Newark-Puerto Plata route. The Ministry of Tourism’s strategy is to increase flights and cruise ships to the DR and promote Dominican vacations. He said the Ministry has a budget of US$38 million for promotion in Europe and the US. He said the government has already invested US$2.3 million to support tour operators bringing extra flights to the North Coast. (18 May 2001)
