Santo Domingo Bishop Francisco Jose Arnaiz went on TV to urge the government to start creating jobs rapidly as a way to counteract violence in the capital city slum areas. He said the population demands concrete government actions that may lead to increased work opportunities, housing and solutions to social problems affecting about 600,000 people who live in the worst poverty in the capital city.
